Photos from our Hard Rock Cafe Seattle Show

Seattle photographer Cody Benally took some photos of our show at the Hard Rock Cafe from Feb 23, super fun times!:

The band and I had a great night playing tunes for some very lovely folks, see you next time!

My Band

We had a really good rehearsal yesterday, my band is pretty fekkin awesome, even though this picture doesn’t do them justice I figure you should have a sneak peak before our next shows:

L-R: Phil Hirschi (cello), BJ Skoff (bass), Hobbs (guitar), Benjamin Rud (drums).

Come see us soon, we found a new stash of rock-and-roll.

All the best,

SJ

Accidents Will Happen

Phil and I had a flat tire on the way back downtown from rehearsal. I think at one point we may have been driving on a surface that isn’t usually considered as “road”, but it was dark and rainy and we really shouldn’t be nit-picky.

Everybody got home safe and sound, and we’ll live to play some rock-and-roll another day, like one of these: http://www.sjatr.com/shows

Writing Day

Today was a very satisfying day of songwriting.

I’ve been working on a bunch of new tunes, and it’s always so much fun to see where they lead to, it’s kind of like raising kids and watching them grow up.

I’m on a short break right now, clearing my head. Hopefully when I get back these kids will still be well-behaved.

Phil’s Vinyl Stash

These are some of Phil’s records:

Phil (our cellist) couldn’t find his record player, but he promised me next time I came over he’d have it dug out and I could listen to some vinyl. I think I’ll start with the Everly Brothers. Then what?

In anticipation,

SJ

Poo Happens

Sometimes, right before a show, things change and your plans for a night go kaput. But it’s ok, you know why? Because of pre-show tea:

Just relax, listen to some Cat Stevens, sip some tea, and head out the door with guitar in hand and let rock-and-roll sort it all out.

Meet Bathsheba

This is my “other” guitar, Bathsheba:

She is a Martin D15. All mahogany. Very simple, but beautiful nonetheless. A nearly-blind old woman on the bus helped me name her recently, which was a relief because I was getting worried that she’d never have a name.

That’s a picture of her in anticipation of being played, but I have to take a break and listen to some Temptations tunes for a few minutes so I don’t wear my fingers out.

SJ

Mildly Addicted To Pool

I’ve become mildly addicted to pool. I got dragged into a game by a cute girl a few months ago and ever since I’ve steadily played it more and more. I can’t say I’ve become very good at it yet, but tonight I had a lot of fun playing:

Oh, and Benjamin (our drummer) is a bit of a pool shark, don’t let his nice demeanor fool you.
