This is a great photo of our cellist, Phil Hirschi, on stage with Carlos Santana back in the 1970s:
I think Phil is playing the same cello now as he has in the photo also. Neat.
I’m singing some songs this Friday at Murphy’s Irish Pub in Wallingford, Seattle. Phil is joining me on cello, super fun times guaranteed.
9PM, free entry.

Hi, Mary Ann, our second vocalist (in order of appearance, not quality), is on Twitter, you can say “hi” to her here:
She’s pretty friendly, and a wickedly good cook, we have delicious meals for band rehearsal, she might give up a recipe if you ask nicely.

Tonight, I am performing for the 200th time this year! I’ll be at the White Horse Tavern with Phil Hirschi on cello, and we’ll perform completely acoustic, no amps or mics.
White Horse Tavern
1908 Post Alley, Seattle (near Kells)
This is one of the coolest little hidden bars in Seattle, it has a very relaxed old English tavern vibe. I’m going to be celebrating a bit, this is by far the most often I’ve ever performed in a year, and all of the work has been very good for my music, performance ability, and overall well-being.
See you tonight!
We have a special semi-full band show tonight at the Rolling Log Tavern in Issaquah WA, with Carey Sorrell sitting in on drums and Phil Hirschi collecting souls with his rock-and-roll cello!
Rolling Log Tavern
50 E Sunset Way
See you tonight!
I’m performing a show with Phil Hirschi (cello) at Hattie’s Hat in Ballard, Seattle, Sunday October 26 at 8PM. We’ll also have a full band backing us up, including an upright bass, mandolin, saw, and drums.
Hattie’s Hat is a great listening room, we’re going to have a super fun night!
See you soon!
Hi! It’s been a very active year so far. I’ve performed over 170 (probably more!) shows, released a CD, met thousands of cool folks, finally made some cool merch, and there’s still a bunch left to do before 2015.
Oh! And then a few days ago I went to a show in Seattle and got to meet and hang out with one of my music heroes, Mike Mills from R.E.M.:
Also pictured, Phil Hirschi, my rock-and-roll cello wizard. I don’t usually take selfies, but for Mike Mills I could only partially resist.
I’m working on a bunch more stuff and auditioning members for a full live band, I’ll post more soon!
Phil Hirschi and I had a fun rehearsal last night, we’re working on cello parts for one of my newer songs, ‘ Suite: Maid of the Guillotine’. Since I don’t write music notes, this is often my view of Phil as he tries to make sense of what I’m looking for while I’m singing smatterings of melodies and using nonsensical words to describe how it should sound. Fortunately, Phil is very clever, and can find the notes and styles I’m trying to communicate and comes up with great suggestions.
We’ll be performing ‘Suite: Maid Of The Guillotine’ soon, it has a neat feel, we hope you’ll dig it.
