Lovely Sunday

I have a couple of days off after a week of super fun shows around Washington and Oregon, lots of singing, lots of travel, many cool folks, delicious food and beers, beautiful sights, and I think now a few hours off to collect my thoughts will be useful. Portland, we really love your beer and your food trucks and your weirdness, thank you for having us and we’re looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Last night at Anchor Pub in Everett WA was tremendous, David Johnson, Jeremy Serwer, and Paula Boggs sounded superb, and many thanks to our friends who came out to join us, see you next time!

#wearitwednesday – Wear Your Local Band T-Shirts

In Seattle there is a very cool local tradition of Seahawks football fans wearing team t-shirts/jerseys on the Friday before a game, they call it Blue Friday. A couple of months ago I floated the idea of putting the same idea out there for wearing local band shirts and swag on a particular day of the week, both local musicians and music fans loved the idea, so this year we’re going to start spreading the word:

Wear your local band t-shirts on Wednesdays. It’ll help spread the word about local music, put a little more money in to the hands of local artists, and it will increase Seattle pride in our local music scene!

Take pictures of yourself in your local band swag and use the hashtag #wearitwednesday (thank you TBASA!), share it, and let everyone you know you support independent local artists!

PS. If it works here in Seattle, I recommend other cities try it too.

Seattle Music Scene

I don’t know a lot about the Seattle music scene, I don’t know the right venues to perform in, or the right music blogs to read, or know who is in any music cliques, or even if any of that stuff exists here. I write my songs, I show up some place with my guitar, I sing, and lovely people sing along. I’m a full-time singer-songwriter, if I was trying to impress some fancy bigwigs I’m sure my strategy would be different, but I’m connecting to people through my songs and trying to remind people why live music makes life better. Some local artists say the Seattle music scene sucks, and they could be right, I have no idea. But this town is full of super cool people that need music in their lives, and I’ve made tons of fans here, so I am super grateful, thank you for having me, and I’m looking forward to many more fun shows.
